The holidays are times where families and friends get together to celebrate and embrace each other with love and happiness. But for soldiers, being away from family and friends is a fact of life. But life goes on when a soldier is sent away. Who is there for that military family when their loved one is located halfway around the world? It takes a strong individual to step up and fill in those boots. Tanya is an Army wife who has grown up in a military household and now raises a military family. Her husband, Peter, is an Active Reserve in the Army and is expecting another deployment during his current enlistment. With a 2-year-old infant, an ill mother-in-law, a recovering mother, and three nieces to care for under one roof, Tanya tells the story of how the Family Readiness Group and Military Children’s Charity has helped her through the hardest times and helped her become a leader, a friend, a hero.
